NATIVE AMERICA
Throughout Native American Communities, Unchained is committed to fighting two intersecting issues: human trafficking and the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) crisis.
The Stats
According to U.S. Department of Justice statistics, indigenous women and girls represent 30-40% of Montana’s human trafficking victims and in 2021, Montana’s Native Americans accounted for 30% of reported missing person cases. Native Americans make up just under 7% of the state’s population, of which half are women and girls.
Our Impact
Since our operational beginnings, Unchained has collaborated with partners to locate Native Americans and provide aftercare support for survivors. We continue to work to find and free victims of trafficking, and educate communities to promote awareness and prevention.
